Aaron Medick

Cinematographer. Filmmaker. Storyteller.

Six year old, Aaron Medick found his inspiration in the bottom of a Burger King kids meal. The Toy was a plastic 110 camera.  He took that camera with him everywhere.  Like the first notes out of a tuba, the photos weren't stellar.  But it developed into a  passion for taking pictures.  Eventually, He started taking classes and learning about Ansel Adams. Aaron would hike all over Ulster County, NY to photograph nature.  By his Junior year in high school, He was the head photographer for the schools year book.  So with a portfolio of portraits, sports photography and Nature photography, He went to university to study Accounting. Nailed it!  Only a crazy person would go to art school, right?

Luckily, one of his professor saw a different path for Aaron.  This landed him at  NYU Tisch School of the Arts. While attending NYU He started working as an electric on films, commercials and music videos.  He spent the next 8 years working in the G&E dept. and shooting everything that came his way.  Aaron eventual landed in children's TV shooting for Sesame St., Disney and Comedy Central.  He loved what he was doing but longed to get back to the NY indie movies scene.  He bought a steadicam and had a wonderful run working on feature films like the Wackness and Margin Call and Television show such as NBC/Person of Interest, HBOs Girls, Starz Power, and USA Mr. Robot.

In 2017, He transitioned back to Director of Photography.  He recently lensed Season 1 & 2 of Starz series Ghost: Power Book 2 and episode 104 of Starz series Raising Kanan: Power book 3.  He is currently prepping Season 3 of Power Book 2: Ghost
